    Belfast Airport & Getting Around

    Belfast is served by two airports: George Best City Airport and Belfast International Airport.

    - George Best Belfast City Airport -

    George Best City Airport (BHD) was renamed in 2006 to commemorate the life of the famous footballer George Best who was born in Belfast. The airport deals mainly with short-haul flights and is used by the budget carrier Ryanair. It is situated only 2 miles from the city centre and is easily accessible by taxi, train or bus.

    • The train service runs twice hourly and involves a short bus shuttle to the terminal building (approx. cost £1.20).
    • The Airlink bus service runs every 20 minutes between the terminal building and the City Hall (approx. cost £2.20 return).

    - Belfast International Airport -

    Belfast International Airport (BFS) is located 21 km northwest of the city centre. As the name suggests, Belfast International Airport deals with most of the long-haul flights from Belfast with airlines such as Aer Lingus and Continental. It the airport used by the budget carrier Easyjet. The airport is accessible by taxi, train and bus.

    • Taxis should cost about £25 for a single journey.
    • Trains run between Belfast Central and Antrim (6 miles from the airport)
    • Buses operate a 24 hour service with buses departing every 10 minutes during the day. (Airport Express 300 service).
